Since we have a big family, aside from the gift giving on Christmas we would usually hold kris kringle to add some excitement to the holiday season. My father started out on the tradition since some of our relatives would also come over to our place for Christmas dinner. It was always a delight having to guess who the person who has picked us and would often be surprised with the results.

This year I picked my nephew for the kris kringle. Since we all had to write down our wish lists, I saw that my nephew wanted RC helicopter or a few accessories he needed. I went online to look into options for RC helicopters, which I knew he would definitely prefer over mere accessories. My nephew was absolutely excited about the gift, and was quite surprised that I knew exactly what he wanted. Why wouldn’t I know, when I am a researcher by profession?

Having it tagged as just another expensive activity, one should not discredit the advantages of having RC toys as a hobby. Benefits of these remote controlled toys are sociological, physical and mental. Enthusiasts usually join RC clubs to widen their knowledge and share their love for these toys.

Clubs like these allow for interaction and interpersonal development. Hand and eye coordination is greatly improved with this hobby, as it requires accuracy in driving. It teaches you the value of patience, perseverance and discipline. Aside from that, having to operate these toys in open air provide that much needed exercise which can be good for one’s physical well-being. Remote control planes are not just toys, they can be tools in developing and improving oneself as well.

Owning a remote-controlled helicopter can be one of the most entertaining hobbies a person can have. Recent indications have shown that they have even surpassed the popularity of remote-controlled planes. There are different types of remote-controlled helicopters such as a Metal RC helicopter that can fly up, down, left, right, forward and backward, plus it will let you either fly in low or high speed with the simple switch of the speed control button.

The Metal RC helicopter can be charged directly from the remote controller or directly from a PC/Laptop by using the included USB cable which comes for free. You can also charge it from an AC adapter which also comes for free. The charging time is approximately 40 minutes which will give approximately 8 to 15 minutes of flying time depending on how you fly. The Metal RC helicopter offers real helicopter performance with precise controlling as well as hovering.

To some parents, the question is when to start their kids playing with RC toys. Some will tell you that getting your child remote control cars and airplanes at an early age will contribute to their physical development. Seeing things moving without seeming help is something that they will totally enjoy. Being able to control them will get their coordination and reflexes going. Definitely, it will not hurt if your child starts playing with rc toys at an early age.

Obviously, there is a need to be selective about RC toys that you can get your kids. For children at a young age, there are RC toys that are simple to operate. Start them off with ground-based toys. This will help them get the feel of how to operate them. Get them in colorful designs; this will help them in identifying colors. Most important of all, very young children playing RC toys should be well supervised.

These types of aircraft are also sometimes referred to as RC airplanes. The receiver controls the corresponding servos that move the control surfaces based on the position of joysticks that are located on the transmitter, which is what affects the orientation of the plane.

RC airplanes are available in a variety of designs that range from biplanes to helicopters, and they also come in a variety of price ranges. Parks and beaches are very popular locations to fly these airplanes, but smaller models are available for flying in the backyard, and a few are so small that they can be flown indoors. An RC airplane can be ordered or purchased as a complete model that is ready-to-fly or can be built from kits as well as custom designed.

One of the best manufacturers of these types of toys is Megatech RC. They are considered the worldwide leader in radio control entertainment today. Remote controlled airplanes are generally assumed to refer to model airplanes that are used for recreation, as opposed to military-grade unmanned drones, although these can also be considered as remote controlled airplanes.

There are many different types of remote controlled airplanes, for every level of skill as well as price range. At the most simple level are basic park flyers, which are simple, electric, remote controlled airplanes, that can really only move up and down and slightly side to side. These models are relatively cheap remote controlled airplanes and are what is often purchased for children or beginners with this hobby.

The transmitter is often the handheld variety while the receiver is usually located on board the aircraft itself.

The transmitter is what allows the flyer to control the aircraft directly from the ground. A remote control airplane has an electric motor that is either powered by batteries or by fuel. The early remote control planes used to be powered by fuel, but advancements in technology has made battery power more convenient and less expensive to use. Flying these remote control airplanes has become a very popular hobby among many people nowadays.

The mechanics of how RC toys operate differ among different manufacturers. All radio controlled toys, however, run on basic principles provided by different parts:

In many of the RC toys, the radio controlled motor provides guidance while another source of power provides the locomotion. A remote control helicopter may have a small gas powered engine to turn the propeller; another motor controls the flaps. A sailboat needs a motor to control the rudder while it depends on the wind to propel it. The power source is typically a rechargeable battery pack.

Transmitter – is hand held and sends radio waves to the receiver.

Receiver – consists of an antenna and circuit board inside the toy that receives signals from the transmitter. It activates motors inside the toy as commanded by the transmitter.

Motor – can turn wheels, steer the vehicle, operate propellers, etc.

Power source – provides the fuel by which the motor runs.

Ever since I was a child, I have always loved playing with remote control toys. Now that I am much older, I still enjoy playing with remote control vehicles like cars, trucks, airplanes and even helicopters. I regularly go to hobby stores at the mall to check out the newest models of these remote controlled vehicles. I also check out websites that sell these vehicles online through the Internet.

These remote controlled vehicles consist of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is usually a handheld variety and the receiver is located inside the vehicle itself. The transmitter allows the user to control the vehicle from a distance. These vehicles are also powered by an electric motor that may be powered by batteries or by fuel. Technological advancements today have made battery power more convenient and less expensive to use.
