Props is a short term for the word property used in theater or television. A prop can be anything from big items like chairs, tables and the like or any small item like a lamp, fan or any item needed to be used in a play or show.
As for puppet shows, they also use puppet props which are usually small to blend with the height of the puppets used in the play. Puppet props can be made out of wood and metal. They can be used for gallows, slide whistle, baton and clapper. These materials are used to make the play come out realistically with their special effects so as to catch the attention of the audience.
