Slides, see-saws, merry-go-rounds, chin-up bars and sandboxes are just a few of the equipment that can be found in a playground. Childrens playground equipment helps in developing strength and flexibility in children. Not only that, playground equipment is highly entertaining and can be a venue for social interaction. The different equipment is usually linked together so that the children can go from one play to another with ease. It is also more convenient for the parents who want to keep their children within view.
Safety is a very important issue when talking about playground equipment. It is bad enough that children are not careful with themselves that they inadvertently hurt each other. Sometimes, the kind of materials used in these recreational pieces can be harmful by themselves. That is why we are seeing less of the steel bars that used to dominate older playground equipment. What we are seeing more of are nylon ropes and softer materials that will break falls. Rubber mulch is gaining popularity because of its ability to do this.
