My cousin Gary is the biggest sci-fi fan I know. His entire wardrobe consists of T-shirts with pictures of Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Captain Kirk and Spock. He even has a Darth Vader collector’s watch.

So when it came time to buy him a birthday present this year, I knew I had to stick with something that catered to his sci-fi fantasy world. I know he already has a collection of prized Star Wars action figures, so I thought I would get him a collection of Star Trek models, or at least start a collection for him.

There were canoe models in museums which depicted how the Maoris traveled. The canoe models were mostly done in wood just like the original canoes were. The model canoes were built to be just as sturdy as the real canoe.

Canoe models come in different sizes. There are huge models that occupy an entire room and there are small models too that can be placed on top of tables. Canoes were and still are a very reliable form of transportation. They are best used in quiet small rivers, lakes and ponds. Canoes are not ideal for use in the ocean.

Are you a boat collector? Then if you have almost every kind, choose something more different. Opt for a canoe model. With appearance like the real boat kind this mini-boat is made of strips of dual-color cedar wood in red and yellow. It is also made of fiber glass for livelier and more realistic design. Though this tiny canoe is made smaller just for display, it looks exactly the same as the small narrow boat usually operated by the use of human force.

When you look at it you will still feel, see and imagine the real canoe’s work in water. Visualize in this canoe model two individuals paddling, facing the direction of the trip. They sit either on the hull part of the boat, or kneel directly upon it. This boat-type is ideal for display in the living room, bedroom or kitchen. Some bring their miniature piece at work for office display. They find it therapeutic, enabling them to be inspired more in working just looking at the model.

It’s so nice to see a place like that because it reminds me of my childhood days. They even had robot models which I loved as a kid.

I loved the model boats they had in their store. They even had the SS Minnow from the Gilligan’s Island TV series. They also had the Sun Princess model. It’s the name of the ship in the Love Boat series. I think the owner or owners also grew up in the 70’s. They also have the sea plane like the one used in Fantasy Island. I wish they had a miniature model of the miniature character Tattoo saying “De plane! De Plane!” That would have been funny!

I’ve always been a water person. I would go sailing every chance I get. I can spend hours on end fishing. I also collect model ships and display it proudly in my home and office. I’ve been collecting model ships close to five years now. It started when I was a kid and collected match box cars. As I grew older, I discovered ships so I started collecting model ships as well.

The crème ala crème of my model ships are the Titanic and the Queen Mary. I remember when I was in grade school we had a field trip to the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. It was the biggest ship I had ever seen. The Titanic I bought because you can’t be a model ship collector without having the Titanic. I recently added the Queen Mary II to my collection.

Model yachts are magnificent artworks made by the most talented wood craftsmen. These people specialize in miniature models of ships and other sea vessels. Each model unit is carefully constructed in minute detail.

There are researchers specifically assigned to look into historical archives to find out pertinent details of ships and vessels that once existed. For instance, the brass railings and leather seats you see in a particular model are exactly the same as in the original yacht. The woods used are of the finest quality and include wood rose, pine and Old English oak.
